Omar J. Harb is a shareholder in the firm practicing primarily in the Troy, Michigan office. Omar is licensed to practice in Michigan. He is admitted to the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan.

He graduated from Cornell University in 1991, receiving dual Bachelors of Arts degrees in Economics and Government. He thereafter attended law school at the University of Michigan and received a Juris Doctorate, Cum Laude, in 1994.

Omar worked as an associate attorney with Mager, Mercer, Scott and Alber until joining Alber Crafton, PSC as an associate upon its formation. He has extensive experience in handling contract and commercial surety matters, including probate and notary bond claims and litigation. His practice also includes general construction litigation, as well as salvage and indemnity issues on behalf of sureties.

Omar is a member of the American Bar Association, Fidelity and Surety Law Committee (FSLC) of the Tort and Insurance Practice Section, and is currently a Co-Technology Chair/Website Coordinator of the FSLC and is a former Co-Chair of that Committee’s Young Professionals Division. He is also on the Editorial Board of the FSLC Newsletter. He has given presentations relating to performance bond topics, claims handling, indemnity agreement issues, and probate and notary bonds at American Bar Association conferences, local bar association groups, the Northeast Surety and Fidelity Claims Conference and a Defense Research Institute roundtable seminar. He is a co-author of the Michigan chapters of ABA publications on Performance Bonds and Contractor License Bonds, and co-authored an article on performance bond issues for the DRI’s For the Defense magazine, as well as a chapter in The Surety’s Indemnity Agreement: Law and Practice, 2nd Ed. and a chapter in the surety program materials for the FSLC’s January 2011 Mid-Winter Meeting.
